New details emerge about Reeves-Baas
Matt Reeves’ 2022 hit The Batman wasn’t originally meant to be a standalone film, but during The Penguin panel today, it was revealed that much of what happens in The Penguin was meant to be part of the sequel Reeves had originally envisioned. However, MAX executives were looking for ideas for a spinoff series, so the original plan for a Batman sequel film was scrapped, with The Penguin TV series going the way of things instead. But this won’t be the last we’ll see of Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot. According to Reeves, he’ll also appear in The Batman II, which is still being written and is currently scheduled for a theatrical release in October 2026.
