After all the fun and mayhem comes the inevitable season of goodwill. When we make New Year’s resolutions, we often set ambitious goals, such as running a half marathon, learning a language, or writing a novel. One reason these solutions often fail is that our focus is too broad. We don’t think about the reward at the end of the journey and consider the small steps it takes to get there. And we end up feeling defeated and discouraged because we don’t make the progress we wanted.
Perhaps we should all try applying the Japanese concept…
