TikTok Book Awards 2024: Check out the finalists

It’s no secret that TikTok’s #BookTok community has a huge influence on which books become bestsellers, and the TikTok Book Awards has further cemented TikTok’s place in the books space.

The UK and Ireland-based awards will be taking place again this year, with the social media company today announcing the finalists for the 2024 TikTok Book Awards.

There are still seven categories, but they’re slightly different from last year: TikTok has split Book of the Year into International, UK, and Irish, replaced BookTok Author of the Year with BookTok Breakthrough Author, and introduced BookTok Rising Star Creator and TikTok Shop Book of the Year.

According to TikTok, the awards were curated by a panel of judges that included members of the UK literary community, TikTok creator Jack Edwards, and previous winner Eden Victoria, and aim to “celebrate and recognise the books, independent bookshops, authors, and creators that make the #BookTok community such a unique place.”

The BookTok community will decide all winners, except for the TikTok Shop Book of the Year, which will be determined based on sales data and impact on the app. The in-app voting hub will be open until July 14th, and winners will be announced on July 25th.

Last year’s winners were Bolu Babalola Honey and spices, Dolly Alderton’s All I know about love and Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

The official list of 2024 candidates is here.
