Tom Cruise has played the super-competent guy who saves the world for years, but now he’s moved from Paramount to Warner Bros. and is playing the super-competent guy who saves the world.
On Friday, Deadline provided a brief synopsis for Cruise’s upcoming, currently untitled film, which he’s producing alongside Alejandro G. Iñárritu. According to the outlet, the movie will focus on “the world’s most powerful man” who unleashes a global catastrophe and then it’s up to him to prove his worth and stop it. It’s a very ominous premise, and more than anything, it’s unclear what that catastrophe is. teeth And whether he even intended to put it out there in the first place — and why Cruise’s character is the most powerful out of all the others? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Deadline has also released the film’s synopsis along with the cast list. Anatomy of a Fall Sandra Hüller Killer of the Flower Moon Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde (Talk to me), John Goodman (Justice jewelry), Michael Stuhlbarg (All the bonesRiz Ahmed is also a possible candidate (Nimona) are set to star and are reportedly currently in negotiations for the project, though like much of the film, their roles in the story are being kept closely guarded.
Whatever Inarritu and Cruise’s film is, it’s going to be a big deal. Cruise partnered with WB in January to develop and produce a slate of films, both original and franchise, and as the first movie in this new endeavor, it will mark a key point in his career. This could lead to him revisiting fan-favorite movies, or he could try to challenge himself with new material. Either way, we’re intrigued to see what he does next on the big screen.
