What I like about Ugreen 300W 48000mAh Power Bank
Versatile and convenient functions
One of the things I like most about this Ugreen power bank is its versatility. Instead of having separate power banks for your USB-A and USB-C devices, you only need this one because it has two USB-A ports and three USB-C ports. Both USB-A ports provide 22.5 watts of power, two USB-C ports provide 100 watts, and the third provides up to 140 watts of power.
The built in light makes it a handy tool for car camping or emergencies and I would bring this instead of another power bank.
Though I haven’t had to use it yet (thank goodness), I really appreciate the built-in LED light. The high mode is very bright, and Ugreen promises a runtime of 115 hours on high mode and 150 hours on low mode. It also has an SOS light mode. The built-in light is a great tool for car camping or emergencies, and I would take this instead of another power bank. Of course, the battery is large, so it’s heavy (3.7 pounds). I wouldn’t recommend it for hiking or backpacking.
As the name of the device suggests, this power bank has a total capacity of 48000mAh. Ugreen claims it can provide 10 days of power, or charge an iPhone 15 Pro 10.8 times or a 15-inch M2 MacBook Air M2 1.1 times. In theory, this means you can get away with just this one in most situations instead of having multiple smaller power banks, but more on that later. The device also supports super-fast charging for the Samsung Galaxy S22, which is very convenient and allows you to charge your phone in no time.
All that power comes in a relatively compact package. It’s small enough to stash in a closet when you don’t need it, or keep in the car on camping trips. It even has a built-in handle for easy portability. You can stand it upright like a mini desktop computer, or flip it over to take advantage of the built-in light, thanks to the thin rubber feet on the back.
Instead of gauging battery level with a flashing light, the display shows the exact percentage and how many output or input watts are being used.
Finally, although a simple feature, the display is one of my favorite parts of the Ugreen power bank. Instead of using a flashing light to gauge the remaining battery life, the display shows the exact percentage and output or input watts being used. Having the wattage displayed means you no longer have to guess how much battery time is left while charging. It’s very easy to read, even on a sunny day or in low light.
What I didn’t like about Ugreen 300W 48000mAh Power Bank
Not as promised
Ugreen power banks promise high capacity and fast charging, but in practice we found that they don’t live up to the promised figures. The first issue is with the charging of the power bank. According to Ugreen, this power bank will be fully charged in 1.5 hours. The problem is that that speed requires a 140 watt wall charger, which is not included.
The first issue has to do with charging the power bank. Ugreen claims that the power bank will fully charge in 1.5 hours. The problem is that that speed requires a 140-watt wall charger, which isn’t included.
I don’t have a wall charger that’s anywhere near 140 watts, so I use my MacBook’s 61 watt wall charger. With my MacBook’s charger, it took 3.5 hours to charge the power bank from zero to 100%. With the right equipment, the 1.5 hour recharge time is likely accurate. However, it’s disappointing that the device doesn’t come with a wall charger to deliver the promised time, especially considering the $200 price tag.
Charging the device left me wanting a bit more. Ugreen claims it can provide a bit more than one full charge for my MacBook Air M2 15. I have an older MacBook Pro from 2019 and I was only able to charge it to about 56% before it ran out of juice from the Ugreen power bank. It’s certainly better than nothing, but it’s not what was promised and I wouldn’t rely on it for work. According to the display, I didn’t get more than 94 watts during the charging session, which is also not the full potential of 140 watts.
Charging small devices like Garmin watches, phones, and earbuds seems to be a little closer to what was promised, but it’s still not enough. That said, it does support super-fast charging for the Galaxy S22, which is very handy.
Should you buy the Ugreen 300W 48000mAh power bank?
If you need a high-capacity power bank to keep in your camping or emergency kit, you should buy the Ugreen 300W power bank. The display makes it easy to monitor the power level and it can charge up to 5 devices simultaneously, which is very convenient in emergencies. What’s more, the built-in light makes the device more versatile.
Although the capacity and charging time were a bit disappointing, it is still better than small power banks that are only intended for charging a single phone. However, if you need a larger capacity, you may need to look for a larger power bank, solar charging panel, or small generator. However, for short camping trips or emergencies, the Ugreen 300W charger is handy to have on hand.
