My role at StoneX goes beyond just providing data. I leverage my diverse background in engineering and experience in industries such as insurance and finance to translate raw information into actionable insights to drive strategic decision-making. Reporting directly to the CEO, I work with a talented multi-disciplinary team across the retail sector.
For almost 20 years, I have consistently tackled a common challenge: helping clients make seemingly irrational decisions based on data. My expertise lies in using data analytics to remove bias and guide informed choices, whether that be for risk hedging or market forecasting.
To stay ahead of the curve, I actively collaborate with academic and industry leaders such as Microsoft, Google, and Databricks, allowing me to integrate cutting edge advancements such as next-generation AI into StoneX’s strategy.
“Gen AI” may be a recent buzzword, but its core principles have been around for a while now. What’s truly transformative is the recent surge in accessibility, driven by advances in chip design and growing public awareness. This accessibility is leading to a wave of adoption across a variety of sectors.
Embracing cultural nuances within a team enhances collaboration and problem-solving by allowing diverse backgrounds and perspectives to contribute to collective understanding. 
In essence, my journey reflects a continuous pursuit of knowledge and adaptation. My goal is to help StoneX and similar organizations harness the power of data and navigate the complexities of today’s dynamic business environment.

Recent challenges and trends impacting the industry include overcoming fundamental engineering obstacles such as understanding human physiology and overcoming resistance in innovative designs. Additionally, ensuring safety measures such as disconnecting equipment from mains power to prevent electric shock is also an ongoing challenge. Furthermore, moving from academic pursuits to real-world applications may require a shift in mindset, embracing a willingness to explore unknown territories and learn from failure. Understanding human behavior is a key focus across various sectors from investment to consumer choice, requiring diverse perspectives and global insights. What advice would you give to your colleagues or aspiring professionals in your field?
In an industry as ever-changing and dynamic as ours, it’s important to be open to new ideas. Don’t be rigid in a particular software, management style, or narrow way of thinking. Flexibility is important, but not at the cost of losing your core identity and purpose. A clear vision serves as a guiding light, helping others understand your direction and theory, fostering alignment and trust.
Effective communication means meeting people where they are. Express your vision succinctly and clearly, tailoring your approach to meet the needs of your coworkers, customers, or family members. How do you envision the future of this universe?
The future of space exploration is an exciting world of bold ambitions and complex challenges. One key aspect is unlocking the immense potential of artificial intelligence (AI) for tasks such as spacecraft navigation and scientific analysis. However, it is essential to understand the ethical and regulatory frameworks surrounding the use of AI. Experimentation must be embraced while ensuring responsible practices that build trust and foster progress.
Another big leap in chip design is on the horizon. Space exploration’s ever-increasing demand for computing power is pushing the boundaries of chip technology. We foresee a future in which we will see breakthroughs in computational methods and entirely new chip architectures, perhaps within the next decade. This resonates with past scientific revolutions, where a thirst for knowledge led to groundbreaking inventions like the telescope. Driven by the explosion of generative AI and an insatiable demand for ever-increasing computing power, the engineering community is poised to meet the demand with innovative chip technologies and entirely new ways of processing information.
