The appeal of story-focused RPGs is often the presence of companions with whom the player fights alongside and develops deep bonds. Dragon Age: Veilguard, BioWare is taking it a step further by introducing players to a new set of characters and giving them a chance to shine in a podcast focused on them.
Ahead of the weekend, Bioware announced a narrative podcast. Dragon Age: Vows and VengeanceIn the podcast, former thief Nadia and writer Drayden team up to travel to the franchise’s metaphysical realm, the Fade, to search for Nadia’s love interest, Elio. While working through a rescue plan, Nadia and Drayden discover that the future Veilguard Starring: Dwarven Scout Harding (Ali Hillis), Grey Warden Davlin (Ike Amadi), Veiljumper Belala (Ji Young Han), Qunari Dragon Hunter Tarsh (Jin Maree), Wizard Assassin Lucanis (Zach Mendes), Necromancer Emrich (Nick Bolaine) and his skeletal companion Manfred (Matt Mercer), and Detective Neve (Jessica Clarke). Each episode will focus on a specific companion, providing an in-depth look at their backstory ahead of their debut in the main game. In addition to the companion cast, Mae Whitman, Armen Taylor and Brigette Lundy-Paine will voice a new podcast trio.
Vows and Vengeance Part of a larger focus Veilguard Starting August 26th, Bioware plans to “dig deeper” into the game’s characters via social media. What that means is a bit unclear, but it’s a good idea anyway. People who love Bioware games cite the characters as a big reason why, and this is especially true for this game. Mass EffectAnd since voice acting is key to making that happen, podcasts are a great way to draw in non-players and further expand on a series hoping to revive itself.
