Venus may experience regular earthquakes linked to volcanic activity, such as the enormous Maat Mons, which rises nearly three miles (5 kilometers) above the surrounding plains.

Venus may experience thousands of earthquakes every year, and they could be detected using balloons high above the planet’s surface.
Recent observations of volcanic activity, such as fumaroles and lava flows, on Venus have revealed that the planet is much more geologically active than we thought, which raises the possibility of seismic activity, or earthquakes, on Venus, says Iris van Zelst of Germany.
