Anatomical study of dolphin jaws suggests that dolphin teeth act as antennae for sound waves and may help explain how they hear and use echolocation underwater .
“Our findings support the hypothesis that dolphins use their teeth as part of a sophisticated sound reception system,” says Ryo Kodera from Tsurumi University. “This discovery provides insight into how dentition helps dolphins with their underwater lives.”
