Elon Musk has made a lot of changes to the platform formerly known as Twitter. Most notably, he dropped the “X” from Twitter’s name. He completely removed any sense of verification. And Musk’s new content policies on X basically mean you can do just about anything on the platform.
Just last week, another change was made to X that seems to have gone unnoticed.
X has removed the “water gun” emoji, which was depicted as a colorful, harmless-looking children’s toy, and replaced it with one depicting an actual gun.
Replace the water gun emoji with a gun emoji with X
The announcement was first made on X by company employee @yacineMTB.

The Verge Noticed Twitter announced the change on Tuesday, noting at the time that Twitter first introduced the water gun emoji in 2018. The image of a gun was the emoji’s original depiction as decided upon by the Unicode Consortium, the body that essentially governs the introduction of new emoji.
