Hurricane Debbie is expected to make landfall in Florida early Monday morning.
The storm, which formed quickly last weekend and moved north up the Gulf of Mexico, strengthened to hurricane strength as it neared landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region, the National Hurricane Center confirmed.

As of 2 a.m. ET, the hurricane had maximum sustained winds of 80 mph and was expected to make landfall over inland Georgia before reaching the Atlantic Ocean and moving north along the South Carolina coast as a tropical storm for several days, dumping heavy rain on the state.
